The epitome of love Taj Mahal is the perfect spot for the lovey-dovey photographs. I am sure you have also visited the monument in Agra and your photo album have this white marble background. Then you must know that the entry to Taj Mahal will be a slightly costlier deal now. According to media reports, the government has decided to charge extra from the visitors to enter the monument. So in case you are planning to visit Taj Mahal any time soon, then get ready to pay more.
The government has sent out a notification saying that all categories of visitors will be charged an additional amount. Until now, the entry to Taj Mahal cost Rs 40 for domestic visitors and those from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries, and Rs 600 for other foreign visitors.
Now the visitors will have to pay Rs 200 if they wish to enter the main mausoleum. Earlier, nothing extra was charged to enter the mausoleum. The mausoleum which is housed in the basement of the tomb houses is the artistic replicas of the original graves of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal and is a great tourist attraction.
It is the crowd management technique and the extra fee was suggested by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Until now, the visitors could just buy one ticket and see everything.
This is how people reacted on Twitter after the fee hike:
It’s so much crowded nowadays that’s why good decision.
