In a post that is going viral on social media actress Tapsee Pannu has exposed the ugly truth about Indian movie industry and how female actors are still looked down upon and not even considered equal, forget about being given equal pay.
Pannu, who’s hard hitting movie ‘Pink’ has been the talk of the tinsel town for some time now, revealed that despite being a good student, she left her studies to follow her passion for acting and how much she struggled to not only make her mark in the industry but also to get paid and break people’s perception regarding her.
The post, which was shared by facebook page “Humans of Bombay” revealed the ugly truth about the movie industry and how female actresses are still blamed for the failure of a movie and not given credit for its success.
Talking about her rocky journey in the industry, Tapsee said she had to fight stigma as she was “rumored” to bring bad luck, asked to reduce her pay, thrown out movies, and even fight to get her basic pay for many movies.
While she goes on to tell much more about the industry, she finishes with a point which not only shows how passionate she is about acting. but also how strong willed she is to make sure she makes her mark.
“Truth is, I’m less heroine and more the ‘hero’ in my story and for some that’s a bitter pill to swallow, but then that’s tough…because I’m not going anywhere.”
Bravo, Tapsee, you truly are an inspiration for many.
