A shameful incident took place in Fatehpur Sikri. A Swiss couple was brutally thrashed by a group of people. According to the reports, the couple, Quentin Jeremy Clerc and Marie Droz, from Lausanne in Switzerland, were chased and attacked on Sunday with stones and sticks by a group. Clerc and Marie Droz were strolling at the railway station in Fatehpur Sikri after spending a day in Agra when the group started following them.
The horrific incident has left the couple traumatized. Quentin Jeremy Clerc, recalling the incident told reporters:
“The boys wouldn’t stop walking along despite our protests. All the while they kept taking pictures and trying to get close to Marie. From whatever little we could understand, they were asking our names and the place where we had put up in Agra. They were harassing us. They asked us to accompany them to some place, which we refused. A little after stones and sticks began to rain on me and Marie.”Advertisement
The attack was so brutal that Clerc was immediately admitted to ICU for a skull fracture and blood clot in the brain. His hearing nerve on the right ear has also been affected. Even the woman was not spared, she has got her left arm fractured and has several bruises all over her body.
The incident is definitely portraying a bad picture globally and this is going to discourage many others to visit our country. The country which is known for treating their guests as God will now earn a negative fame internationally just because of some disgusting ruffians.
The damage has already been done but there are people who are concerned about the nation’s image and hence are stepping forward for damage control. Many Indians are posting apology messages condemning the incident on the Swiss couple’s social media accounts. These people are apologizing on behalf of the stupid group who mercilessly thrashed the innocent couple.
Take a look at the apology messages that people have posted on Quentin Jeremy Clerc’s Facebook account. These are the Indians who make India proud.
According to the reports, five of the people who attacked the couple have been arrested.
