In lieu with its Swachhta Abhiyaan, the government has now launched ‘Swachhta App’ where people can report about unhygienic places in their areas.
People can upload a photo of the unclean area and the government promises to get it cleaned within specific time period. An official told HT that for example, overflowing dustbins, garbage dumps and sweeping has to done within 12 hours of lodging of a compliant.
Once the picture is uploaded, it will automatically get forwarded to the concerned municipal authority.
Also, the complainant will get regular updates on the complaint’s status. “The idea behind launching of the Swachhata app was to ensure faster resolution of complaints. Once a picture is posted on the mobile and web platform, authorities won’t be able to ignore it,” said the official.
Further, the government also launched a helpline number 1969 to seek information about the ways of participating in a cleanliness mission.
“They can also enquire about the status of their applications for the construction of toilets,” said Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu.
