The obsession for Indian cinema knows no boundaries. And, it is not only true for India but the entire world. Bollywood and its evergreen melodies have made their way into the hearts of people all around the world. They have become big fanatics of the Bollywood films and the actors. This falls extremely true for the former Soviet Republic, Uzbekistan where Bollywood is quite popular. Incidentally, External Affair Minister Sushma Swaraj was in Uzbekistan as a part of her three-nation Central Asian tour to boost strategic partnership of India with these nations.
During her tour, Sushma Swaraj came across an Uzbek woman who floored the minister with her exceptional singing skills. However, it was not just her singing that impressed Sushma Swaraj and her team. The old Uzbek woman was singing the popular song ‘Ichak Dana’ from the 1950s Raj Kapoor film Shree 420.
The official spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar took it to his Twitter account to post a video of the Uzbek woman singing the evergreen Bollywood song. In the video, Minister Sushma Swaraj is seen standing next to her with her right hand wrapped around the senior citizen who couldn’t help but flash a big smile on her face.
In his tweet, Raveesh Kumar also revealed that Bollywood veterans Raj Kapoor and Nargis are household names in Uzbekistan and we as Bollywood lovers cannot be more proud. Trust me! This Uzbek lady singing the song ‘Ichak Dana’ is the cutest thing that you will see today. Take a look at the video:
Bollywood knows no boundaries! More so in Uzbekistan where Raj kapoor and Nargis are household names. Salute to this Uzbek woman for her spirit as she hums the song ‘इचक दाना बीचक दाना’ from the classic Shri 420! @SushmaSwaraj pic.twitter.com/I9ksvWukxoAdvertisement

Apparently, it’s a fact that generations of Uzbeks, Tajiks, and Kazakhs have grown up listening to Bollywood songs, especially Raj Kapoor songs. And, the proliferation of the Bollywood films and glamour continues to embed itself in the hearts of citizens of Uzbekistan.
Evidently, the song was sung by the revolutionary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh in the film Shree 420 starring Raj Kapoor and Nargis. This video of the song ‘Ichak Dana’ will take you on a nostalgic roller coaster ride right away:
