External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has once again come to the rescue of an Indian in need.

This time it was an Indian national called ‘Gurpreet,’ who posted a video on Twitter alleging that she and her seven-year-old daughter were being kept in a refugee camp in Germany by her husband’s family.

The minister has promptly stepped in to help the distressed Indian woman.

Swaraj was approached via Twitter to help Gurpreet when the concerned citizen saw Gurpreet’s video on YouTube.

In this video, Gurpreet was seen requesting the Indian government for their help.

She further alleged that she was deceived and sent there by her ‘in-laws’ and expressed her desire to come back to India and said she will explain the whole situation once she was safely back in India.

Just hours after the request was posted, Swaraj tweeted back, initially requesting Gurpreet for her number and then assuring her that the Indian Embassy in Germany had been made aware of the situation.

She then sent out one more tweet assuring Gurpreet, that the Indian Consulate General was handling the matter and said that her family in Faridabad had been made aware of the situation.

This is not the first time that Swaraj is helping a distressed Indian after being approached through social media. Few months back, she had helped a woman who had lost her money and passport in Berlin.

She had also helped rescue 168 Indians that were being held hostage in Iraq and brought all of them back safely to India after she got to know about them on Twitter.

We appreciate the prompt initiative of the external affairs minister for yet again helping out a fellow countrymen in distress.
