Since the time Pahlaj Nihalani was appointed  CBFC chief, he has left no stone unturned in overdoing his duty. Time and again he has some agenda or the other, Nihalani knows how to hit the headlines.

The number of censors he has put on Indian films is far more than those issued by any other CBFC chief in the past. Whether it is about the 90 cuts in ‘Udta Punjab’ or his disapproval of the word “intercourse” in Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, the CBFC chief is being criticized by people from films and the media every now and then.

CBFC Chief lately disapproved of the word “intercourse”

Now, Nihalani disagrees with actors drinking and smoking on screen, which has become the newest matter of debate.

Merely putting a ticker warning at some remote corner of the screen whenever there is smoking or drinking shown, is not enough anymore. We feel the superstars who are followed by millions and who set an example in societal behaviour must not be shown drinking or smoking on screen unless the provocation for doing so is really strong.

He also said that any film in which depicting alcohol is completely unavoidable, will have to go with an A certificate. His mentions have created a chitchat on Twitter, here is what people are talking about:

People are really fuming over Nihalani’s remarks and term it completely unjustified. Tell us in the comments section about your opinion on the same.
