Just like his own image, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaigns, too, are attracting the attention of the world.
To support his “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” (Save and educate girl child) campaign, international supermodels from all over the world arrived in Delhi on Saturday.
They carried placards in support of education for girls and spread awareness about the security of women.
The supermodels walked from from India Gate to Jantar Mantar as part of the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” walk.
It is important to note that in 2001 India’s sex ratio was 927 females per 1000 males, which dropped to 918 per 1000 males in 2011.
“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” was a scheme launched on January 22, 2015 as a joint initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of Family Welfare of the Government of India. The initiative aims to protect, educate and empower girls in a country where low sex ratio has been a cause of concern for decades.
