The issue of banning Pakistani artists is again in the news. Recently, Union Minister Babul Supriyo called for a temporary ban on Pakistani artists from Bollywood.
While some have supported his statement, most of them have either shunned it or opted to have not make a comment on it. Amidst all this, critically acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has boldly praised popular singer Atif Aslam for his unique and soulful voice.
Atif, who originally belongs to Pakistan, has been active in the Indian film industry for over a decade now and Mishra thinks that his voice has an emotional depth.
Interestingly, Atif has given his voice to “Sehmi hai dhadkan”, a track in Mishra’s “Daas Dev”. On being asked about this particular track, Atif said that the song has an interesting composition.
He was all praise for the lyrics and variations in the music of this song. Though neither of them directly commented on the Union Minister’s statement, this exchange of praise says it all!
“Sehmi hai Dhadkan” has been the work of composer Vipin Patwa and lyricist Sagar.
“Daas Dev”, Sudhir Mishra’s take on modern-day Devdas, is due release on March 23. The film stars Richa Chadha as Paro, Rahul Bhat as Devdas and Aditi Rao Hydari as Chandramukhi. Audiences will also get to see filmmaker Anurag Kashyap doing a cameo in the film.
