Her first film ‘Om Shanti Om’ released on November 15 and her completion of a decade makes this month very special for her. Based on the story of queen Padmavati, the film has been surrounded by controversies ever since the start of shooting. About two weeks away from its release, these debates around the film don’t seem to die. Organizations and individuals have claimed that Bhansali has distorted history and are demanding the release of ‘Padmavati’ to be stalled.

However, the leading lady of the film, Deepika Padukone, is convinced that the film will release as per schedule on December 1. In a recent interview to IANS, the actress addressed the debates:

“It’s appalling, it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed. The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film. This is not about ‘Padmavati’… We’re fighting a much bigger battle.”
