Another young life was lost to suicide when a first-year student in Jhansi decided to end her life. She hanged herself leaving behind a suicide note that is heart-shattering.
She was a biomedical science student who came back to the hostel from her home on the pretext of attending semester examination. Fearing her performance is poor, she decided to end her life rather than facing her disappointed parents.
On the day of the examination, her friend tried to call her several times but it went unanswered. Worried, the hostel authorities were informed who, with the help of the police, broke down the door to find her hanging. Immediately, they informed her family members.
The police discovered a suicide note which she started by asking for forgiveness from her parents. She wrote (translated):
“Sorry, mom-dad please forgive me. I always used to have fun ignoring my studies. I never listened to anyone. I am not at all good. I never could make any friends. Everyone used to ignore me. I know what I am doing is wrong, but after me make sure to continue studies of Kirti and Jagrati (two sisters). I am knowingly taking my life because I dropped from a good position to a bad one. That upsets me. Bye, please, sorry.”
With the rising competition, students often go into depression thinking about their future and academic performance. It’s important that the students reach out to their friends and family. Also, the family members need to keep a keen eye on their kids.
If they stay depressed, upset, or worried, it’s essential to talk to them and eventually take them to a psychologist. Depression, if not treated, can present a fatal outcome.
