Stone pelting is an issue of grave concern that often plagues the defense personnel posted in Kashmir. It became a prominent practice during 2008 that is still prevalent. Though there are countries across the globe that treats stone pelters with the harshest punishment possible but not in India.
Recently, journalist Rahul Pandit shared a picture of a CRPF jawan who was attacked by ‘civilian’ stone pelters. Here’s the post:
The plight of a CRPF jawan in Kashmir. What will you call the man who did this to him? A civilian? pic.twitter.com/u6ykiBnKE0

Bloodied and broken teeth are what he got while on his duty. Expectedly, it infuriated the netizens and here’s how they reacted:
Call in Major gogoi !! Only he has the medicine for these “misguided” youth of Kashmir. One more dose of medicine from the major is urgently required

That is what those who do this to my soldiers are. Shoot them. Even if they come in the garb of ‘civilians’.

This is not the first case of stone pelting that caused harm to CRPF jawans. Previously, two jawans lost their lives when they lost balance of their vehicle due to the continuous throwing of stones. Certainly, most remember the huge controversy created when Major Gogoi tied a stone petler to his car’s hood in order to save lives.
Isn’t it about time government starts tackling this issue more stringently?
