We have all seen the evolution of super humans in movies. Now, that fiction world would soon become a reality. Stephen Hawking’s new book throws light upon the advancement of genetic engineering, and how it will lead to the death of humanity. Late physicist, Stephen Hawking has always been in controversy because of his critical views on the universe and future of the earth.
His book, ‘Brief answers to Big Questions’ is expected to be relased on October 16, 2018.
According to him, a new race of superhumans would be developed by the wealthy people who might adopt the wrong means to edit their and their children’s DNA.
Due to the change in DNA, there is a possibility that genetic engineering could create a new species of superhuman.
He further mentioned that specific laws will be made for genetic engineering in the future. A quote from his book reads:
“Laws will probably be passed against genetic engineering with humans. But some people won’t be able to resist the temptation to improve human characteristics, such as memory, resistance to disease and length of life.”
The rise of superhumans will make the unimproved humans completely extinct and soon, they will die out. In the end, only self-designing beings will exist. Stephen Hawking wrote:
“Once such super humans appear, there will be significant political problems with unimproved humans, who won’t be able to compete. Presumably, they will die out, or become unimportant. Instead, there will be a race of self-designing beings who are improving at an ever-increasing rate.”
All one can hope that we live in the “being human” times forever.
