A sportsperson’s life involves strict discipline, continuous hard work, and traveling. A lot of things go behind the scenes that help them to emerge as pride of the nation. There is no wonder that to have a stable career they need a strong support at home. What could be best if that support comes from their better halves? Even better, when their significant other is from the field of sports too!

Here are five sports couples from India who are brilliant in their respective fields.

1. Manjeet Kaur and Gurwinder Singh Chandi




This couple hails from Jalandhar and both represented India at the Olympics. He is Indian professional field hockey player who represented India during 2012 London Olympics. As part of a team, he also won silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Manjeet Kaur is a two-time gold winner at 2006 and 2010 Asian Games. Her illustrious career continued with a win in 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 4×400 m relay. She holds the national record in 400-m sprint. She also won Arjuna Award in 2005.

2. Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal



Dinesh Karthik is an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman who is a regular member of the India cricket team. He has an elaborate and successful career.

On the other hand, Dipika Pallikal is an Arjuna Award winner, and is one of world’s top ranking squash player. She won India’s first ever gold in squash at the Quadrennial Competition.

3. Anju Bobby George and Robert Bobby George



Anju Bobby George can easily be called the “long jump queen” of India. Before concentrating on her long jump event exclusively, she also bagged medals for the high jump, triple jump, hurdles, and relay. She won a gold medal at the World Athletics Finals along with other prizes. This lady won both Arjuna Award and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

Robert Bobby George is the former national champion in triple jump. He also coaches his wife. With an illustrious career of his own, he bagged the Dronacharya Award.

4. Milkha Singh and Nirmal Kaur



Milkha Singh, also known as “Flying Sikh,” is a sports icon who won gold at the Commonwealth Games in the year 1958. He also bagged gold at 1958 and 1962 Asian Games. Labeled as one of the finest athletes in the country, he was awarded Padma Shri.

Former captain of women’s volleyball team, Nirmal Kaur is a celebrated sports personality herself.

5. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik



This is an Indo-Pak sports couple. Sania Mirza is the winner of Khel Ratna, the highest sporting honor. Besides, she has also bagged Arjuna Award and the Padma Shri. These all is because of her glorious career in the field of tennis.

Shoaib Malik is a former Pakistani cricketer who had a successful career as an all-rounder.
