2. The Holy dip
Pushkar Mela is celebrated over a period of five days, starting from ‘Kartik ek adashi’ to ‘Kartik Poornima’, the full moon day of Kartik.
It is said that on the full moon day, the Hindu god Brahma performed the sacrifice for the creation of the universe. He threw a lotus flower to select a suitable site for the said ceremony. The flower struck at Pushkar and water opened out and thus, the sacred lake of Pushkar was formed.
