During these testing times when the nation is in lockdown and where the poor are affected the most, India found its new hero in celebrities who came forward to contribute in whatever way they can to help the needy. One such hero is Bollywood actor Sonu Sood who arranged buses for several migrant workers, stuck in Mumbai, wishing to return to their villages.
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood sponsored the travel and meal kits for these migrants after receiving permissions from both, Maharashtra and Karnataka Governments. He arranged for a total of ten buses that left from Thane, Maharashtra headed to Gulbarga, Karnataka. The generous actor was personally present to overlook the activity and bid goodbye to these hundreds of migrants. Sonu, alone, has officially become the first Indian celebrity who came forward to lend such strong support to migrant workers who were affected due to the lockdown.

To achieve this, Sood’s friend, food and beverage entrepreneur, Neeti Goel, too helped to ensure that the migrant labourers return to their villages.
Talking about his act of kindness, Sonu Sood said, “I strongly believe that in the current times when we are all facing this global health calamity, every Indian deserves to be with their families and dear ones. I have taken official permissions from the Maharashtra and Karnataka Governments to help these migrants reach home in about ten buses. The Maharashtra government officials were very helpful in terms of organising the paperwork and a special mention to the Karnataka government for welcoming the migrants back home. It was really moving for me to watch these migrants walking on roads including the little kids and old parents. I shall continue doing the same for other states as well to the best of my abilities.”
Many people from the sports fraternity were full of praise for Sonu’s act of generosity.
“So so proud of you my friend amazing work @SonuSood,” wrote Sania Mirza.
“Great work by @SonuSood during the pandemic for helping migrants go back home .. I salute ur work,” tweeted Saina Nehwal.

Sonu did not only help the migrant workers but recently also donated over 1,500 PPE (Personal Protective Equipments) kits to doctors across Punjab and has been providing food to thousands of underprivileged people. He also provided meal boxes to many migrants in the Bhiwandi area during the holy month of Ramadan. A few days back the kind actor also offered his Mumbai hotel for accommodating the medical forces.
