Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja wedding was the talk of the town, and got massive traction on social media. The Big Fat Bollywood Wedding just culminated with a grand reception where the biggest names in the film industry showed up. For her reception, Sonam had done a good number of preparations before hand and even made sure to look into every detail to make the day the most memorable one. When it comes to the choice of her designer outfit she wore for her reception, Sonam went a step ahead and ditched the traditional lehenga and wore a graphic outfit with a cape.
If we talk about her ‘mangalsutra’ even that was special in its own way. Let us tell you that Sonam got this ‘mangalsutra‘ designed in a very special way.
The religious thread of beads also holds a special significance. Sonam designed it herself and if you take a good look at her ‘mangalsutra’ you will find that it has two symbols on both the sides.
The symbols indicate the star signs of the couple. Since Sonam and Anand are Gemini and Leo respectively, Sonam chose to keep the star signs on the thread. The ‘mangalsutra’ was executed by designer Usheeta Devnani Rawtani. Usheeta took to her Instagram and shared the details of Sonam’s sacred necklace. Here is her Instagram post!
Congratulations on your wedding @sonamkapoor & @anandahuja A mangalsutra is a sacred necklace that a groom ties around a brides neck in an Indian wedding ceremony. This one was especially designed by the bride (@sonamkapoor) herself and executed by us. It has symbols of both their star signs. Hers being Gemini (on the left) and his Leo (on the right) these are complimented by a Solitaire in the centre. #sonamkishaadi #everydayphenomenal #sonamkapoor #sonamkapoorwedding #sonamkapoorjewellery #anandahuja #sonamanand #anandsonam #mangalsutra #indianwedding #tradition #congratulations #bestwishes #veerediwedding
Not only this, Sonam also wore a beautiful headgear (Matha Patti) on her wedding, which was designed by Sonam’s mother Mrs Sunita Kapoor. When Sonam’s makeup artist was asked about the look she said, “it is vintage headpiece and I don’t think anyone has ever done that. Sonam is the only one who would set that trend and now this trend is going to go crazy.”
She further added, “The reason that the traditional headpiece looks modern is that she kept it simple. She was so excited about the headgear, I cannot even tell you. The minute she showed it to me I was speechless because it was so stunning. She honestly looked like a total and complete Maharani and I don’t think anyone can look like that. I mean the ability to carry off something like that and make it look effortless is so difficult”.
