Samajwadi Party’s feud took a turn for the worse when on January 3, 2017, two letters depicting different signatures of SP supremo Mulayam Singh emerged, thus raising doubts over the authenticity of the orders and leading to speculations if his signatures were being misused.
The discrepancy was brought to light by SP’s expelled leader Kiranmoy Nanda, who pointed out that two letters – declaring January 1’s National Executive meeting unconstitutional, and the letter expelling leaders had different signatures.

UP CM Akhilesh Yadav too during the national meet had raised this point and said that “Many party members type the letters on behalf of the party chief”.
He had also hinted that Mulayam’s name was being misused by his estranged uncle Shivpal Yadav and that he was the one actually issuing these letters in Mulayam’s name.
Nanda further added that the letter declaring the national executive meeting unconstitutional as it’s not on party’s letterhead, and as there were different signatures being used on several documents.
