‘World Food India’, the international food festival celebrated in New Delhi from 3rd to 5th November, has been a center of attraction for the national capital, media, social media, politics, government, business houses and the entire country for quite a while now. The festival was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

The highlight of the entire festival was the 1100 kg Khichdi prepared by more than 200 chefs under the supervision of India’s celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
Around 800 kg cereal including wheat, rice, Moong pulse and millet was used to cook the dish in a huge vessel. Apart from the cereals, 1100 liters of water, 100 kg pure ghee and spices were used in preparing the cuisine that was being promoted at the event.
A world record for preparation of Khichdi was also made on that day and Guinness World Record officials were present at the India Gate to administer the same.
Also present on the occasion were Central Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, state food processing minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Yog Guru Baba Ramdev. Three of them also participated in the making of record making Khichdi.

The pictures of the same and three of them participating in the Khichdi preparation went largely popular on the internet. Meanwhile, Shobhaa De tried to take a jibe at Baba Ramdev in a tweet saying that he should have used protective net on his beard as well while cooking the Khichdi.

She indicated towards the hygiene aspect of cooking. Here is the tweet by Shobhaa De:
Surely Baba Ramdev needed a protective net also for his beard while cooking Khichdi in New Delhi? Hygiene matters!

But not many agreed with Shobhaa De and she got judged big time for her tweet. Here are some of the responses:

However, there were some tweets expressing opinion same as that of Shobhaa De. Have a look at some of these:

A report by India Today has also highlighted the same saying that despite being well-groomed, Baba Ramdev’s beard looks bushy and must have been covered while he was cooking the iconic Khichdi.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has also established guidelines in their Schedule 4 as per which human hair must be controlled from falling into foods in exposed eateries, food processing and manufacturing plants.
So considering that Shobhaa De’s opinion on Baba Ramdev’s beard while he cooked the Khichdi was correct, but the social media stood divided in their views. We wish to know your reaction on this. Please share thoughts with us in the comments section.
