We recently reported that Smriti Mandhana has surpassed Disha Patani in terms of fan following and has become the national crush. People have been talking a lot about the beauty with brains. The phenomenal cricketing skills that she has shown in the ICC World Cup series have gained thousands of fans in just a few days.

Another fact about the star cricketer has come to light. Smriti Mandhana’s coach, Anant Tambvekar revealed the name of the player that gives inspiration to Mandhana, talking about her favorite player, the coach said,

Smriti was very lively since her childhood. But at the nets, she was extremely disciplined. She never used to leave the nets unless she had mastered a shot. Later on, she became a fan of Kumar Sangakkara. In the nets, she always tried to copy Sangkara while batting. Sometimes I had scolded her for trying to copy the Sri Lankan great.

Mandhana scored 196 runs in two matches. After scoring a century in the group league match, she called her coach and even inquired about the technical mistakes she had made while batting. Praising Mandhana, her coach said,

She has not forgotten me yet. After scoring the century in the group league match in the World Cup she called me from London, asked me whether she had made any technical mistake during her century. I did not expect a phone call from her.

He added,

She always pretends nonchalant. Last week also, after scoring a century in the World Cup when Smriti called me, she was as usual nonchalant.

Whoever her inspiration, all the credit for her brilliant performance goes to her. Smriti Mandhana has earned every but of the praise she is getting these days.
