Actress Smilie Suri is best known for her role in 2005 film Kalyug, along side Kunal Kemmu, which was her brother’s directorial debut as well. For the uninitiated, she is the sister of film director Mohit Suri and also happens to be the niece of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt.
Smilie Suri got married to a dance instructor Vineet Bangera in the year 2014 after she met him in his dance class. She was seen in popular celeb dance reality show, Nach Baliye 7.
However, despite making a promising debut, she disappeared from the Bollywood scene.
The actress is now battling health issues and depression. She is suffering from Thyroid and PCOD which has resulted in her putting up a lot of weight. To fight this problem, she has taken up pole dancing as profession. Pole dancing helped her so much that she underwent professional training and decided to teach it herself.
According to Smilie, pole dancing has made her emotionally stable. She said she now doesn’t feel the need of someone backing her up anymore. She is also encouraging other women to come forward and learn pole dancing as she believes it will help them in fighting depression.
Last year, she lost both her parents, and her nani (maternal-grandmother), and as a result felt lonely in her life. After going into depression, she decided to come out of it, and found pole dancing as a good way to do it.
Smilie’s first cousins are Emraan Hashmi, Pooja Bhatt, Aalia bhatt, and Rahul Bhatt. She is a trained dancer and was training for the Olympics, before she was offered role in Kalyug in 2005. She has also learnt Kathak from Kathak guru, Vijayshree Choudhary.
