Punjab is scheduled to hold its Assembly polls in 2017 and according to media reports, Sidhu might join AAP so as to play a key role during the election.

Ahead of resigning, Sidhu had said that “the people of Punjab were looking for a change.”

He had also suggested that he considered his post with BJP a “burden” and was thus resenting it.

Sidhu added that “in the war of right or wrong,” one couldn’t “afford to be neutral.” and that Punjab’s interest was paramount for him.

There are also rumors that Sidhu is likely to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in few days so as to join AAP.

There are also suggestions that Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur, who is Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Punjab’s Akali Dal-BJP government, might also quit.
