A shoe was hurled at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on September 26 when he was riding on top of an open vehicle during his UP road show.
The incident happened in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh while Rahul was passing through the city as part of his ‘Kisan Yatra’.
The man who hurled the shoe has been identified as Hari Om Mishra and is said to be a local journalist.
Mishra, who was immediately detained by the police, was reportedly upset with Rahul as he feels he is aware of the ground reality of farmers in the state, yet has done nothing about it.

While the shoe narrowly missed hitting Rahul, according to NDTV, he was seen looking at the shoe when it was thrown in his direction but looked away after the object missed him.
Rahul Gandhi has been on a ‘Kisan Yatra’ in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh for the last couple of weeks and during this time has addressed many ‘Khaat Sabha’.
BJP meanwhile has been mocking Rahul’s Yatra as a “seasonal expression of sympathy in the season of elections”.
