Just days before Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s elevation to the top post in the party, his party member Shehzad Poonawalla has criticized this decision as a mere “selection not an election”.

Shehzad Poonawalla slammed Congress for making Rahul Gandhi the party president without conducting any election. Twitter
Expressing his apathy towards the entire issue, Poonawalla took to his Twitter account and said:
Raising an issue nobody in my party – the Congress will have guts to raise- my conscience will not allow me to stay quiet anymore on Dynasty/ sychophancy-watch @TimesNow at 8:30pm- @RShivshankar @tehseenp has no idea about this issue else he would have stopped me too pic.twitter.com/D3yIBiAADj

Meanwhile, adding more to the controversy, Shehzad also tagged his brother Tehseen Poonawalla and said, “@tehseenp has no idea about this issue else he would have stopped me too.” Needless to say, this did not go well with the elder brother, who took to his Twitter account to claim severing all political contacts with the former.
I am stunned with what @Shehzad_Ind is doing at the time @INCIndia is winning Gujarat .
I officially give up all relationship with him politically.

It is to be remembered that Tehseen Poonawalla is the brother-in-law of Robert Vadra, who happens to be the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi.
Meanwhile, Tehseen did not just stop at this and even urged the senior leaders of Indian National Congress (INC) to contest elections against Rahul Gandhi for the post of party’s president.
Anyone in the @INCIndia can contest against @OfficeOfRG . If @Shehzad_Ind wants he should contest ..This is simply unacceptable to Mona n me. To say I am hurt today is an understatement ..

In a series of tweets, Tehseen explained how he was hurt through his brother’s words and announced to end all his relationship with Shehzad officially:
I officially end all relationship with @Shehzad_Ind . I have never been this hurt. We needed to defeat the BJP. This is unacceptable . Im very very hurt today . Been stabbed in the back ..And how

On the other hand, despite Shehzad’s antipathy towards Rahul Gandhi at his seemingly unfair “selection” to the top position of the party, none of the party members are keen to match their voices with Shehzad. If reports are to be trusted, Rahul Gandhi will be declared as the Congress President on December 11, 2017.
