With the nation in lockdown and the rerun of two of the most-iconic mythological shows of Indian television, Ramayan and Mahabharat, the film fraternity is finding new ways to stay in the limelight. While the lead actors of both the shows are delighted about the rerun and that the younger generation will get to learn more about history and mythology, on the other hand, actor Mukesh Khanna, the lead in the iconic television series Shaktimaan, in an interview with a media portal, stated that the reruns of such mythological shows will help people like Sonakshi Sinha learn about their culture and India’s mythology.
Bollywood actress and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s inability to answer a question pertaining to the mythological series Ramayana on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati has given way to this controversy on social media. Actor Mukesh Khanna who played Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharat unintentionally took a jibe at Sonakshi for not knowing a few details around the epic mythological show Ramayana. Sonakshi, a guest at Kaun Banega Crorepati had failed to answer for whom Lord Hanuman had got the Sanjeevani booti in Ramayana.
However, her father, the veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha came out in her support and defense and slammed Mukesh Khanna for his controversial comments. Shatrughan Sinha during another interview without taking any names told the entertainment portal,
“I believe someone has a problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly what qualifies this person to be an expert on all things to do with the Ramayan? And who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion? I am very proud of all my three children. Sonakshi became a star on her own. I never had to launch her career. She is a daughter any father would be proud to have. Not answering a question on the Ramayan doesn’t disqualify Sonakshi from being a good Hindu. She doesn’t need a certificate of approval from anyone.”
Not just Sonakshi, but Mukesh Khanna also hit out at Ekta Kapoor claiming that she ruined the remake of Mahabharata. Along with Shatrughan Sinha, Puneet Issar and Nitish Bharadwaj too condemned Mukesh Khanna for his remarks and stood in favour of Sonakshi.
