Bollywood’s Shetty Sisters, Shilpa and Shamita, are known for their penchant for fitness. But on the one hand, where we have seen Shilpa Shetty leaving her mark on the silver screen, Shamita somewhere failed to do the same. The actress who made her debut in the film industry in 2000 with Aditya Chopra’s directorial, and SRK-starrer, ‘Mohabbatein’ could have become a sensational name in Bollywood.
In her recent interview, Shamita Shetty opened up on not working in many films and having a short film career. The actress said that she prefers quality over quantity and quantity of work was never her priority. The younger sister of actress-entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty, who now features in web series titled ‘Yo Ke Hua Bro’, feels that she might have said a lot of ‘no’ that eventually stopped the work coming to her.
“I have not done that many roles. I have not been a part of that many films for a while. There is a lot that I would like to do… Maybe I have said no so much that eventually work stopped coming to me but I never stress on quantity.”
Describing herself choosy, the actress told News18:
“For me, quality matters. You are taking out time from your life to do something that you love and you should be happy doing it. I don’t want to do a film just for the sake of it. For me, I guess, I just had to pick the best from what came to me.”
While Shilpa participated in the international reality show ‘Big Brother’, Shamita tried her luck in the third season of the Indian remake of the show ‘Bigg Boss’. She was also seen dancing in the Season 8 of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’.
Shamita expressed that she has interest in “content driven” projects but not in “typical saas-bahu stories or the likes”.
“Today, I think the subject is your hero. I cannot sit here today and say, ‘I want to do this or that’ as it depends on what is offered to me and appeals to me. Accordingly, I can take a decision.”
Shamita was last seen in a Tamil movie ‘Naan Aval Adhu’ in 2008.
