However, this was not the only thing that the two did while in the city to promote their upcoming romantic comedy. Among other things that Banaras is known for, paan is one thing that perhaps no one would miss to eat while in the city. The same happened with our ‘King of Romance’ but his savoring the paan of Banaras has become a historic event in the legacy of Banarasi Paan.

Shah Rukh along with co-star Anushka Sharma stopped at the Tamboolam Pan Shop during their promotional tour and both of them savored Meetha Paan. Shah Rukh even got some paans packed from the shop.

Every street of Banaras has two to three Paan shops but ever since Shah Rukh stopped by at Satish Kumar’s 70-year old Paan shop named Tamboolam, people of Banaras, especially youngsters, are curious to know which Paan was enjoyed by Shah Rukh and have thronged Tamboolam to find out. So, Satish Kumar has named a particular meetha paan that Shah Rukh tried as ‘Shah Rukh Paan’. He has also revealed that Shah Rukh was so delighted to have his paan that the actor sent him Rs. 1100 as reward apart from the cost of paans.

This is the first time in the history of the paans of Banaras that a paan has been named after an actor. And since the paan has its name Shah Rukh, it is selling for Rs. 35 more  than an ordinary paan.
