Whenever I used to see my mother water the plants, I always used to wonder how it grows with so much love and affection. My mother told me that plants are alive just like us and need to be filtered with love and care. At that point, it all made sense to me and I watched them grow gracefully. However, as naive as can be, I never knew that if they are living, they would be reproducing as well and all about it! Yet, today, some artists and designers from Slovenia have confirmed that plants have a sex life too (WTF!). These sex-deprived plants need a solution and they have found it!
The verdict is out – sex-deprived plants do need sex toys for their problems and each plant has its own customized!
Excited to know the surprising solutions to help plants with sex issues? They may be fictional or experimental, but sex-deprived plants deserve love!
It started when these Slovenia designers ‘met’ five different plants and observed their reproductive problems.
That’s when they created genius devices for sex-deprived plants and their specific issues. Now brace yourself with new knowledge!
1. Plant Name: Sarracenia purpurea. Problem: Luring insects
Known as pitcher plant, Sarracenia purpurea, is one of the sex-deprived plants which lures insects into its ‘pitcher’ or ‘sac’. These insects are nutrition for the plant, but out of all the flowering leaves plants, these plants are less reproductive.
Solution: A dildo!
To help Sarracenia purpurea, the designers formed a dildo to be placed in the ‘pitcher’. It helps in feeding the plant by releasing nutrients and also blocks potential pollinators from entering.
2. Plant: Carnation flowers. Problem: Insects spread fungal infections
These beautiful flowers are bred artificially to increase the number of petals! However, this increases the possibility of plant equivalent to an STD – the fungal infections which insects spread.
Solution: A cap to block insects
A single infected flower can make the whole plant infertile! Therefore the best solution is a cap that blocks insects so that reproduction reduces the risk of infection. The beautiful lace caps adds aesthetics!
3. Plant: Cyclamen plants. Problem: Bee species grow extinct
Cyclamen plants can’t reproduce without a very unique pollinator (bees). To release its pollen, this special bee shakes the flower with a specific frequency! However, this bee is growing extinct.
Solution: A vibrator!
If you can’t find the bee, create a vibrator! The designers attached each vibrator to an individual flower. Just like the bee, the vibrators shake with the right frequency when an insect visits and boom! Pollen is released!
4. Plant: Abutilon pictum. Problem: Virus doesn’t spread
‘Abutilon pictum’ are evergreen plants which are also sex-deprived plants. There is a virus that infects the plant but is not transmitted to the offspring. Yellow spots are created when this happens.
Solution: White-flies for their leaves!
To end the woes of ‘Abutilon pictum’ plant, white-flies played a catalyst. To capture these flies, they are placed into cups, attached to the plant’s stem. This way the virus can spread through the plant.
5. Plant: Turmeric. Problem: It only produces clones!
Turmeric has more benefits than one. It’s most valued for its curcumin spice but there’s a problem – it does not have a sex life! It only reproduces through asexual reproduction, which means that the plant genes don’t change. Therefore, only clones are born!
Solution: Spicing up the sex life of turmeric!
Turmeric needs a solution to produce and the designers found it! They designed a kit wherein Turmeric’s roots are tied with a balloon filled with helium. As you know, the balloon will float thanks to helium and therefore, the plant’s DNA will get mutated.
Pleasure is not only restricted to humans. In the plant realm too, we need to make sure to help them grow and make our environment more beautiful. What do you think?
