The security forces had information about the terrorists hiding in Dilgam village in Anantnag, which is approximately 65 kilometers from Srinagar.
When confronted by security forces, the coward terrorists used civilians as human shields. The forces, however, managed to rescue 17 civilians.
Protests erupted during the operation and some resorted to stone pelting. The crossfire resulted in the death of two civilians Tahira and Shadab Chopan.
