The Supreme Court is in full form and it’s another historic day for every citizen of India. After the triple talaq verdict, the Supreme Court of India has given another verdict today. Under this decision, the Right to Privacy has been declared a fundamental right of every Indian citizen.
With growing digitalization, Adhaar cards were putting the privacy of the citizen of India at stake. According to TOI,
The Centre now has to convince SC that forcing citizens to give a sample of their fingerprints and their iris scan does not violate privacy.
Stating that right to privacy is intrinsic to the right to life, the Supreme Court’s nine-judge bench said,
Right to privacy is an integral part of Right to Life and Personal Liberty guaranteed in Article 21 of the Constitution.
The Supreme Court’s verdict has definitely come as a shock as it will not only question the system of Adhaar cards but also impact Section 377. This historic verdict by the Supreme Court brought smiles of thousands of faces.
Soon Twitter started flooding with celebrating tweets. Check out how Tweeple are celebrating the Supreme Court’s verdict.
SC: “Privacy is a fundamental right under the Indian Constitution”.
