In August 2015, social media went into a frenzy over the sexual harassment report filed by a Delhi girl named Jasleen Kaur against a Delhi boy named Saravjeet Singh. In the case, Jasleen Kaur alleged that Saravjeet Singh had passed obscene comments on her in the middle of the busy road in Tilak Nagar, Delhi. During the incident, she clicked a picture of him and wrote a post on her social media account with the boy’s picture explaining the entire incident.
Jasleen Kaur later filed a police complaint against the boy for molestation on Delhi road. Here is the post:
Evidently, the post garnered huge momentum on social media such that the people were praising her for speaking against her molester and calling the Delhi boy a ‘pervert’. However, as soon as the trial on his case started, new angles in the case exposed. While Sarvjeet Singh parents claimed that his son is innocent and Jasleen was doing all these for publicity, the accused posted a comment on her viral post explaining his side of the story.
Have a look:
Apparently, in a recent interview with The Print, Sarvjeet Singh spoke up on his struggles to keep a job and the court hearing in the case. Interestingly, since three years to the case, there have been 13 hearing in the court, out of which the boy has attended all of them and the victim, Jasleen Kaur has not been to a single hearing.
“Each time I go to the court for the hearing, they call out my name, ask me to put my hand up and write down my name. They ask if the complainant has come. Because she is absent, another date is given and the matter is dismissed. This has been happening for the past three years.”

While the boy claims that her father keeps on telling the court that she has been studying abroad so she cannot come to the court, Sarvjeet Singh is not allowed to go outside Delhi due to his court hearings.
Sadly, in the last three years, Sarvjeet has not been able to get a stable job for himself because of his ‘criminal record’. While the boy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Diploma in Animation, every other company is rejecting him due to his court hearing.
“Soon after the incident, the company I was working with asked me to leave. We used to produce labels for branded clothes and had international clients. My boss told me that the company’s name was being tainted as the news had spread to our international clients as well. I then took up a job at a marriage bureau that was paying me 40 percent less than what I was earning earlier, but I had no option.”
Now, Sarvjeet Singh says that the court will issue a non-bailable warrant against Jasleen Kaur if she doesn’t appear in the next scheduled hearing in December.
“What infuriates me the most is that arguments in the case have not even begun. When will I prove my innocence and when will I resume a normal life. Hopefully, my case will be decided if she fails to appear in the next hearing.”
In an interesting turn of events, the journalist who wrote a story on his case accusing him of the incident has recently, apologized to Sarvjeet on social media after the reading his side of the story. Take a look:
