Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has approached celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor to prepare menu for residential Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across the country.
At an event in Ahmedabad to lay foundation stone of a JNV at Hathijan village, HRD minister Smriti Irani said:
“We want to do something special for these (JNVs) students who come from normal families, and I wish to match the quality of food served in JNVs with that in top residential schools. For this, we have requested chef Sanjeev Kapoor to prepare menu of every JNV.”
Also, Kapoor will provide training to all the cooks of the boarding schools.
Irani said, “Our aim is to make students feel that they are studying in a school which is no less than a private boarding school.”
Navodaya Vidyalayas, affiliated to the CBSE, offer free education to meritorious students, mainly from rural areas, from Class-VI to XII.
