Recently, the ball-tampering incident by Australian bowlers created quite a stir among those who are associated with the world of cricket. Not to forget, the fans are stunned and hurt with Cameron Bancroft’s use of sandpaper to tamper ball.
The social media is flooded with criticism for the team. However, among these, a tweet by former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar ended up infuriating Aussie wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy of the female team, as well as, the fans.
In his tweet, Manjrekar wrote about a ‘sight’ during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup played between India and Australia in 2017. Read it here:
Needed to get this thought out. pic.twitter.com/0Pi1Uq9fYe

The tweet didn’t go down well with most and Alyssa Healy was the first one to call out the ridiculousness of the post. She wrote:
This makes me really mad. Completely unfair and very poorly timed. Why are you trying to drag our game down as well? Happy to discuss this with you in person instead of you just throwing these comments out there.

Soon, celebrities and fans alike started slamming Manjrekar for his “rant”. Here are some of the tweets:

You have raised a valid point, but the timing of this tweet is poor. You should have said this during the women’s world cup, not when the Australian cricket is going through a dark phase. This is a classic example of kicking a man when he is down.
NOT COOL SIR!😒

You are no therapist or psychologist. Just call the game as it is. You are more of a fanboy when you commentate than a commentator. And stop trying to predict what players are thinking or talking.

We will agree to disagree on this one & no doubt chat further Sanjay but this is way off the mark. First on timing & linking to recent events, 2nd on questioning the long established quality reputation of a team base on one incident adjudged from afar.

Clearly remember @AlexBlackwell2 hugging and giving her jersey to @ImHarmanpreet after the match.we cant generalize a team as unsporting based on one observation. #BallTemperingrow #steve smith #bcciwomen #indwvausw #David warner #WomensTriSeries

Women’s cricket is least tainted thing right now. Please, for heavens sake, don’t ruin it for us fans. We have came a long way to find this glory for women’s cricket. We fans respect all the players and teams. Please, don’t ruin it.

Feet going nowhere Sanjay. Poor shot.
