After all the endless controversies and delays, ‘Padmavaat’ finally got released and it is quite unsurprising to say that the genius Sanjay Leela Bhansali has created a marvel on a 70 mm screen, once again.
The satanic soul of the film, Ranveer Singh, has given an unforgettable performance. In his every scene, he grips our attention with his devilish expressions and then, would leave us pondering over his next dark move. It almost felt that he had lost his soul to Alauddin Khilji.
On the other hand, there was Deepika Padukone, whose alluring face was graced with Bhansali’s jewels. The way Deepika had mapped her role as Rani Padmini made us admire her poise and bravery to the fullest.
The highlight of the movie was, indeed, the jauhar scene and the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was completely mesmerized seeing Deepika performing this sequence with absolute perfection. He praises her like a true admirer:
“Deepika is one of the finest artistes I’ve worked with. Such thehrao and such grace! She never surrenders to melodrama even when there is ample temptation to do so. Look at the scene where she gives a speech in front of the women before they commit jauhar. Such control, restraint and so much emotive power without tripping over. From some angles, she reminds me of Vyjayanthimalaji. Sometimes she reminds me of Hemaji. And the grace with which she performed the Ghoomar dance reminds me of Waheedaji. “
Well, Bhansali sir was so so impressed and moved by her portrayal that he gave her a special gift that Deepika will remember for a lifetime.
“I was so overwhelmed by how she handled the scene that I gave her a Rs 500 note after she finished it. I am sure that token of my appreciation is more valuable and precious to her than the entire remuneration she got for the film.”
Deepika is certainly the gem of Bhansali’s creations.
