One of the best Indian professional tennis players, Sania Mirza was on Neha Dhupia’s talk show ‘No Filter Neha’. As the show’s name suggests, Sania kept no filter while opening up about her relationships, personal life, the incident when she and her friends were thrown out of Falaknuma Palace, and her obsession with daily soaps. Sania who is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik says, when it comes to her personal life, she is not insecure about her relationships but is possessive about them.
The player was asked about the one love advice she would give herself. She said,
I need to be less possessive. I’m not insecure, I’m possessive. There is a big difference, I think. I just am and I would love to be a little bit less. What I would like to do more communicate our problems or issues, if there are any, a little bit better.
Talking about the time when she was obsessed with ‘Balika Vadhu’, the TV show based on the theme of child marriage which premiered in the year 2008, Sania said,
Listen, I liked that show. It was a sweet show. And my sister would be like, seriously? You’re going to sit in Wimbledon and you’re going to watch this? And I was like listen, I have to go and find this website that shows Balika Vadhu. I somehow lost interest over the last couple of years but my mum used to watch. So, whenever I would spend time with my mother, you have to sit and watch the serial. So obviously at some point, I started getting interested and I was like accha, ab kya ho raha hai. And on the phone, I’d be like mamma uska kya hua Anandi? I’ve always maintained in my interviews – do I look like the saas-bahu type to you? But I am. But I’m over that phase now, I’ve moved on to cooler things like Suits.
While talking about her husband, here is the love advice that Sania want to give him,
He should express more in words. I know he loves me but he should not take me for granted. He should let me know that he loves me.
Recalling the incident when she and her friends were asked to leave hotel Falaknuma Palace for partying so much, the player said,
We had a big night and it was a celebration and people jumped in the pool, with clothes on, fortunately. And then at 5 o’clock, they said listen, it’s really loud and we’re really sorry but you guys have to leave. And we were like, but we’ve paid for the room. I became number one in the world, come on, I deserve that kind of a party. But then we left.
