Salman Khan is all over the news lately. After hosting the Season 11 of hit reality TV show Bigg Boss, he recently announced the leading lady of his next home production ‘Loveratri‘. While we are aware that Salman didn’t release a film during Eid in 2018, he made sure to make it up this year. After Sultan, the superstar has once again joined hands with director Ali Abbas Zafar for yet another big budget movie ‘Bharat’. For those who have forgotten, Ali Abbas Zafar’s latest film, the Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai, had crossed the Rs 500 crore milestone after its worldwide release.

The hit duo is all set to treat their fans on the festival in 2019 with Bharat, which is being backed by Bhushan Kumar and Salman Khan’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri of Reel Life Production Pvt. Ltd.

This announcement was made by the director himself on Salman’s 52nd birthday last year. Bharat will be set in the backdrop of India in 1947 and will take us through the events during the country’s partition. Not just that, the film will showcase significant events over a period of 70 years since partition.

The third project of this hit actor-director duo will release on Salman Khan’s favourite day – Eid. It’d be the first time that Atul Agnihotri, Salman Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar will be working together on the same film.

Bharat is an Indian adaptation of the 2014 Korean film ‘Ode To My Father.’ It’s expected to be a commercial film with a mix of action, drama and music. The South Korean drama movie is currently the second highest-grossing film in the history of Korean cinema, with 14.2 million tickets sold.

The Korean blockbuster had depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man. If you have seen the Korean movie, it is a coming of age drama that touches various important events of the history of Korea.

However, since Bharat is based in India, the title of the film is self-explanatory. The movie will cover some really important chapters of our modern history, which definitely includes the most tragic of them all – the partition of India and Pakistan. According to a DNA report,  Salman will showcase his patriotic side by essaying a character that has witnessed partition.

The actor will be portraying five different looks with the help of prosthetic and VFX in the film which covers 70 years, beginning in the 1940s. This was confirmed by the movie’s director Ali Abbas Zafar exclusively to Indian Express.

“And we are right now doing full research with our Indian and international teams to figure out what is the right way to go about it, whether it is prosthetics or whether it is VFX, how to go about all those things”

However, while we are used to seeing Salman flexing his muscles and six-pack abs, this movie will show Salman Khan’s journey from the age of 8 to 65.

One of the looks will be from his younger self from Maine Pyar Kiya days!

According to Filmfare, Ali Abbas Zafar has already completed the pre-production of the movie. He even tweeted about his excitement:

The shooting of Bharat will take place in Punjab, Delhi, Abu Dhabi and Spain. The film will go on floors in June. The rest of the star cast is still unknown.
