Rio Olympic Winner, Sakshi Malik Gets Engaged To Wrestler Boyfriend Satyawart Kadian

Sakshi Malik rose to fame earlier this year after winning a bronze medal in the 58 kg category in the women’s freestyle wrestling event in the Rio Olympics 2016.

 

It was a historic win as she became the first woman wrestler to won a medal in 2016 Rio Olympics other than solacing medal drought that the Indian contingent faced in the mega-event.

After such wonderful win, Sakshi received a warm welcome in her home state. During a media interaction, Sakshi also gave a statement about her boyfriend Satyawart Kadian and said,

He is very supportive and thinks of my dreams as his own.

 

 

On  16th October 2016, the duo got engaged at Sakshi’s residence in Rohtak. Satyawart father Arjuna Awardee Satyavan Pehelwan said,

It was a private function. Only the families of the to-be bride and groom attended the event and it went very well.

 

Though the two got engaged, their wedding date is yet to be decided. Satyawart, 22, is two years younger to Sakshi and trains at his father’s akhada in Rohtak.

 

He won his first bronze medal at the 2010 Youth Olympics. The two were said to have fallen in love during wrestling tournaments.
