On the fateful day August 18, 2016, India’s collapsing run at the Olympics took a U-turn. Sakshi Malik became the first woman wrestler ever to win a medal at the Olympics and PV Sindhu entered the finals of women’s badminton after defeating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, assuring us of at least a silver medal.
In badminton, we also had a major upset a few days back when injury-stricken Saina Nehwal lost to Ukraine’s Maria Ulitina in the second round. With the sudden rise PV Sindhu and the prompt fall of Saina, comparisons were bound to happen. A guy, displeased with Saina’s performance asked her to say goodbye to her career (as people have found a new idol in PV Sindhu!):
@NSaina dear saina…pack ur bags..we hav found someone who knows how to beat the best ones
— انشل ساگر (@ImAnshS6) August 18, 2016
His mean tweet was immediately criticized:
@ImAnshS6 @NSaina such poor taste. If you can't support her in defeat, don't celebrate her victories.

@ImAnshS6 @YashTwts you asked for it. For 2 mins fame?

As this tweet also questioned Saina’s respect and contribution to the country, her reply was expected to slay him:
Sure thank u 😀Sindhu is doing really well 👍India is doing really https://t.co/7Sf2rztear

Her dear fans appreciated her sarcastic tweet:
@NSaina U r really a champ! We all know your ability & also you tried your best here for our nation so far. Long way to go 👍️ All the best

Later, the guy, after being disgraced publicly, decided to apologize:
@NSaina sorry for hurting u
..i really didnt mean it..i still love u…still a big fan— انشل ساگر (@ImAnshS6) August 18, 2016
To which the gracious Saina replied:
No problem my friend 👍all the best to u https://t.co/peMdJaJ4Rs

A billion pair of eyeballs will watch PV Sindhu in the finals today. We wish her luck!
