Kerala Congress MLA, KS Sabarinathan, representing the Aruvikkara constituency, has tied the knot with Thiruvananthapuram sub-collector, Divya S Iyer, at the Kumarakovil temple in Kanyakumari district on Friday, according to a report.
The low-profile ceremony was attended by a few political leaders and close family members of the couple. Former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC vice-president V D Sateeshan and former minister K C Joseph were also present at the ceremony.
33-year-old Sabarinathan is the son of late Congress legislator and former Assembly Speaker, G Karthikeyan. He won from Aruvikkara in the the 2015 by-elections. Since then he has handled the position. Divya, 32, is a medicine graduate from CMC, Vellore. In 2013, she got into the Indian Administrative Services. Earlier, she has worked as the assistant collector at Kottayam, before moving to her home district of Thiruvananthapuram.
In May, Sabarinathan had announced the wedding on his social media account. The announcement was received on a happy and excited note. It is reported that the ceremony was kept really simple and the couple planned a reception at Girideepam Convention Centre in the city. Another reception is planned at VK auditorium Aryanad in Sabarinath’s constituency on Sunday.
