Ae Dil Hai Mushkil Jeena Yahan, Zara Hatke, Zara Bachke, Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan……
Even after so many years, Mumbai remains an ethereal place for our film makers to explore. Thousands of dreamers arrive here every year, and soon start feeling islanded, repelled by how cold and brash the city can be.
Exploring this dark side of Mumbai, debut director, Ruchi Oberoi has woven three parallel stories, based on autocratic human behavior. Two of them are black comedies and one is a comic tragedy.
The first story is centered on a middle aged man stuck in the routine of life, who thinks having fun can is punishment.
In another story, a woman finds solace in charming TV characters, when her own life is dulled by a husband, who is on life support in the hospital.
The third story is that of an unrequited romantic, who is struggling under the daily grind of earning a living. She’s being wooed by a man, who is extremely eloquent about his feelings for her. But will this last?
National Film Development Corporation’s internationally acclaimed film , starring Vinay Pathak, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Amruta Subhash and Chandan Roy Sanyal, was premiered at the 72nd Venice Film Festival in 2015. Ruchika Oberoi came home with the FEDEORA award for the best debut director
