Just weeks after renaming Gurgaon, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) now wants Ahmedabad to be renamed as Karnavati, Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar and Aurangabad as Sambhaji Nagar.
According to reports, the Sangh is preparing for more such name “reversals” so as to highlight Indian culture and cleanse foreign influence from India.
It must be noted that they played a crucial role behind the Gurugram episode and now, according to their critics, are attempting to rewrite India’s history by remaining cities so as to extend Sangh’s cultural influence.
RSS contends that these cities should be renamed since they are tied to their “history and culture” and adds that the Sangh already uses these “historic names” to address these cities.
Besides Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Aurangabad, RSS’s expanded list has also proposed changing Kerala to Keralam.
