RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed a huge rally on the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on January 14.
The rally happened thanks to the Calcutta High Court’s permission. The West Bengal government led Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had tried everything to stop the rally citing law & order problem.
Addressing RSS members and the attendees, Bhagwat said that the goal of the RSS is only to unite Hindus but not against anyone.

The rally witnessed a huge turnout. While granting permission the court had directed that not more than 4000 would be allowed to attend the rally.
From early morning, RSS volunteers and supporters had started gathering at the ground under the warm winter Sun.
The permission for the rally had turned into a major political controversy because of the political battle between the Centre and Mamata government in the state. Though the police had objected, the Army, which is the custodian of the Maidan where the ground is located, had granted permission.
Banerjee, the chief of Trinamool Congress, has been making every effort to keep the BJP and the RSS out of the state. Her government has been objecting to every move of the Central Government. On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee has been constantly ignoring the rising violence against Hindus by radical Islamists in her state. In her quest to keep the Muslim vote bank, her government is tolerating everything from burning of Hindu homes and fatwa against the PM.
