The recently concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka was a memorable one for Rohit Sharma, largely becuase he stepped in as India’s stand-in captain in Virat Kohli’s absence. Despite going down in the first ODI in Dharamsala, India won the series 2-1. In the second ODI the Indian skipper scored a record third double century (208*) against the same opposition in Mohali and India won the game by a mammoth 141 runs to level the series. In the final ODI in Visakhapatnam, Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer took India over the line by 8 wickets.

The talented right-handed batsman, who came back from a lengthy injury lay-off in Indian Premier League (IPL), also became the only man to score three double hundreds in One-day International cricket when he clobbered the Lankan bowling to all parts of the ground.

The 30-year-old had posted an emotional tweet regarding his experience as skipper and expressed his desire of leading the national team.

The India opener also hailed the fightback from Team India after the morale-shattering loss at Dharmasala.
