Indian Tennis player Rohan Bopanna created history on June 8 when he along with his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski won the prestigious French Open mixed doubles title at the Philippe-Chatrier court in Paris, France.
Bopanna has now become the fourth Indian to win a Grand Slam title after Mahesh Bhupathi, Leander Paes, and Sania Mirza.
Bopanna – Dabrowski were seeded seventh in the tournament and defeated Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Colombia’s Robert Farah 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 in the Roland Garros final.
Soon after the win, Twitter was flooded with congratulatory messages for Bopanna with tennis ace Sania Mirza leading the way.
