Previously, World Health Organisation (WHO) declared India’s national capital Delhi as most polluted city in the world. But, little has been done to remove the tag. Recently, Delhi’s pollution air level above the dangerous level due to which government had declared holiday for school students.
So bad is the air in Delhi, that by just stepping out, one gets headache. Even anti-pollution masks have run out of stock in many stores in the capital.
However, not just air pollution, even water pollution levels are alarming. This picture of Yamuna river, at the time of the Chhath Puja yesterday, shows the state we are in.
It was taken by Indian Express photographer Abhinav Saha.
Sadly, this is not the first that Yamuna river, which flows through the city, has been in news. Earlier also, the river condition was highlighted and lack of action taken for the same.
The picture has since gone viral and has been shared more than 1,000 times.
Upon seeing the condition of the river, the social media users expressed their anger and asked Delhiites to fix the problem.
We need to start protecting our environment right now. No excuses, whatsoever.
