Believe it or not, Rishi Kapoor is one of the most controversial, entertaining and active Bollywood actors on Twitter. Being an opinionated person, Rishi Kapoor already has his fair share of fans and followers on social media. Though he is regularly trolled for putting his not-so-regular opinions, his statements do somehow manage to catch up everyone’s attention and media light.
Lately, the veteran actor, in an interview with a leading daily, shared his views on Indian film industry and the actors of this generation. He mentioned some more-than-expected things about the actors and stardom that might take time on your part to believe.
On one hand, where Hindi cinema is actually doing good by churning some content-driven films, on the other hand, Rishi Kapoor doesn’t feel the same about Bollywood.
When the actor was asked about how does he sees the films that are being made these days, He said:
” I’ve always believed that films should be heavy on content, which is why I have acted in so many, during my time. Prem Rog, Damini, Tawaif were all content-based films, not made on a huge scale. They might not have been high on action, but were not nonsensical films. They (filmmakers) try to glorify the action more today, and even technically, they are more glossed over.”
He also mentioned that the present day actors don’t know much about acting and are more focused on looks. Her words were:
“You see, actors will have to change their approach. Eventually, only actors will survive, stars won’t. Stars will fade out. The system of being just good looking and bagging a good film — that kind of cinema — female or male — both will [soon] finish. You have to be a good actor. I shouldn’t be saying this but there are a lot of so-called actors also in this cinema who bloody don’t know what acting is all about”.
Today had an opportunity to interact with the finest actors that I think. That to In 1 day! BINGO!! Amitabh Bachchan Anupam Kher,Pankaj Kapur and Naseerudin Shah. Wah! Thank you all! pic.twitter.com/mAXEMrtAPTAdvertisement

Further, when his views on filmmakers and the film types was asked, he replied:
“You see, all different kinds of films like Hindi Medium (starring Irrfan ) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar) and many more are being made now. And more importantly, they are being appreciated, too. So, thankfully, this generation is focused.”
Seems like Rishi is not much impressed with the work the young generation actors are doing and choosing in their career.
As he then added:
“Sometimes, to be a part o a big-budget film, actors go in for safer bets, so as to make the film acceptable among both the audiences — single theatre and multiplex audience. That’s where Indian cinema becomes regressive.”
