There are two methods for using peppermint to eliminate ants. One: pour peppermint essential oil around windows and doors (or any entries). And the other: put liquid soap in the mint oil. Mix 1 to 1 with water in a spray bottle and then spray on the ant invasion.
2. Lemon juice
Spray pure lemon juice around the doors and windows of your house and something about the acid messes up their sense of tracking.
Use ground cinnamon around where the ants are. Or spray cinnamon essential oil all around the doors, windowsills, floors, etc. to keep them from coming in. It works.
Sprinkle a little bit of cornmeal just off the back porch or ant nest and within a week’s time, it’ll be all gone.
5. Cream of wheat
Using of cream of wheat is one good method for eliminating ants. Just use it in your garden or wherever ants are. They will eat it and they’ll explode themselves.
Vinegar is one sure solution for eliminating ants. Just pour it where the ants have their nest, not just where they walk around. If you find their nest, pour about 0.5-1 liters of white (cheap) vinegar. Another method is using a mixture of vinegar, washing liquid and peppermint oil. Track them back to their nest and syringe it into the cracks. They’ll never come back.
7. Baking soda and powdered sugar
It is said that ants carry an acidic substance with them always for protection. So for this, using a mix of baking soda and powdered sugar is a great method for eliminating them.
8. Coffee grounds
Put some used coffee grounds in the cracks or where the ants are coming out or getting in and within few days time, they will be completely out of the place.
9. Borax, water and sugar
A mixture of borax, sugar and water works wonders in eliminating ants. Make a thin paste with water, sugar and borax, then spread it on little pieces of thin cardboard or stiff cardstock and placed them near where it seems they are coming into the house. They’ll eat it and take it back to their colony.
10. Boiling water and dish soap
Pouring a kettle of boiling water with liquid dish soap wherever ants are and it solves the problem.
11. Diatomaceous earth
Diatomaceous earth (DE) works quite well for eliminating ants. Sprinkle the DE around the perimeter of your home or wherever you see them. Do not wet the DE or it will not work. DE isn’t an instant kill but should resolve the problem within a week or so.
A mixture of tea leaves and apple juice also works quite well for eliminating ants. It is said tea leaves work as a neurotoxin to the ants.
Draw a line around where the ants are coming in with chalk and it really works.
