Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh visited Jokpat, a remote area of Shankargarh Development Block of Balrampur district this Friday. He was there to oversee the progress of construction work being done for Pradhan Mantri Awasiya Yojana.
The leader who is always known and praised for his simplicity tied a towel on his head and participated with laborers in laying bricks for the building.

Villagers heartily welcomed the Chief Minister as their guest. Urmila, wife of Shobharan, one of the locals whose house was being constructed, offered him jaggery and cold water.

Raman Singh hosted a choupal under the shade of an Amariah tree. He patiently listened to the problems of all villagers, sought information about implementation of government schemes and gave approval for developmental works. He also presented Shobharan and Urmila with a shed and a hand pump.

The Chief Minister also informed the villagers that initially, 57 families will be provided with a surety of accommodation with spending of Rs.1,25,000 per beneficiary. Eventually, 70 more people will be able to benefit from this scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awasiya Yojana.
In the district, more than 30 people have already benefited with LPG connection under Ujjawala scheme. During his visit, Raman Singh also assured the villagers of constructing CC Road, making Jokpat a tourist place and beautification of the village.
