The #MeToo movement has taken the Hindi film industry by storm after Tanushree Dutta revived a decade-old case of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar. Soon after this, the revolutionary movement included many big names like Sajid Khan, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Chetan Bhagat, Gursimran Khamba, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Anu Malik, Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, and Rajat Kapoor. The movement has brought many dark truths of the Bollywood with women naming and shaming offenders.

While many of Tanushree’s colleagues and fans hailed her as the torchbearer of the movement, Rakhi Sawant had a different opinion on this and made shocking claims against the actress.

The controversy queen Rakhi Sawant organised a press conference and tried degrading Tanushree’s reputation and put bizarre allegations on her. Rakhi had said that Tanushree is a homosexual and that she raped her several times. The incident, according to Rakhi, happened 12 years ago when Tanushree used to be Rakhi’s best friend.

Tanushree Dutta's defamation charges

Rakhi’s statements created a lot of buzz in the media and Tanushree had to come out in public to defend her. The Aashiq Banaya Apne actor said her parents have always told her to choose friends wisely and carefully and she followed the advice always. She resented that uncouth, uneducated dirty, characterless and perverted people like Rakhi Sawant claimed to be her best friend.

Tanushree had also slapped a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Rakhi Sawant after the controversy queen said Tanushree consumed drugs on the sets of 2008 film Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. About the 2008 incident, Rakhi had claimed that Tanushree was under the influence of drugs and remained unconscious for four hours on the set.

Now Rakhi has filed a 25 paise defamation suit against Tanushree Dutta for allegedly hurting her reputation by making “unwholesome” and “deeply derogatory” statements.

In her suit, filed in a civil court in suburban Malad, Rakhi Sawant said:

“The defendant (Tanushree) had an uncharacteristic, unstable and disappointing career in the film industry, spanning for only five years. After which she was out of limelight. Upon her return to limelight, Tanushree made certain unwholesome and deeply derogative statements against (Rakhi) Sawant due to which, she (Rakhi Sawant) has incurred huge financial losses and has suffered a dent on her reputation, which had taken years to build.”

Rakhi Sawant also mentioned that the words used by Tanushree such as “uncouth”, “uneducated” “characterless” and “classless” were allegedly used for her.

She urged the court to order Tanushree to pay her 25 paise as damages and to tender an unconditional apology in “print, television and social media”.
