After the dismal performance of his last release, ‘Mirzya’, which was also the launch vehicle of Anil Kapoor’s son, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Saiyami Kher, renowned filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra seems to have moved on and is all set to go behind the camera and call the shots once again.
The director, known for his blockbuster movies like ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, recently spilled the beans on his next project.
Titled ‘Mere Pyare Pradhan Mantri’, the movie will be set against the backdrop of PM Narendra Modi’s much publicized ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative.
Mehra, who was present at the recently concluded Brahmaputra Literary Festival in Guwahati, to promote his book ‘Rang De Basanti: The Shooting Script’, let on some more info about his project.
He said, “The film is about an eight-year-old boy, Kanhaiya, who desires to make a toilet [in his house] for his mother.”

He also mentioned that the film was inspired following his visit to the village, Gandhigram. According to the filmmaker, the funds for the film will be raised through grass root crowd funding from NGOs or as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the profits the film generates at the box office will go in the making of more toilets.
Here is wishing the best of luck to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for his project.
